AQUA in the Lake District in Denmark

AQUA is situated in a unique and very beautiful landscape down to the River Gudenaa, the big woodlands and the lakes of Silkeborg, the largest woodland and lake area of Denmark.
From the park of AQUA you have direct access to this marvellous landscape.
When you have been inspired and informed about this Lake District in the exhibition at AQUA, you are well prepared to a further discovery of the area, walking, on a bike, in a car – or on the water in a canoe or boat, whatever you like.

An area of wetland with trees and shrubs from the marsh.

The park of AQUA borders on the Aboretum, 14 hectares of trees and shrubs from the marsh everywhere in the temperate climate zones of the world. You see trees and shrubs growing in the marsh of North America, Europe ( e.g. Denmark, Switzerland, Sweden, and the Caucasus), and from far away countries like Manchuria, China, western Siberia, and Corea.
The Aboretum was started 1991 as a cooperation between Ferskvandscentret (the Center of Fresh Water studies), the local authorities of the town of Silkeborg, and the State Forest authorities who are responsible for this district.
Free access to the Aboretum for everybody.
